What is a Paradigm Shift?

What is a paradigm shift?

First lets look at what a paradigm is, before we can learn how to shift one.
A paradigm could be described as a model or pattern, a template or a standard, or an archetype.

It is usually applied to a certain way of seeing or doing things.

A paradigm could be a habit.  People are creatures of habit, we tend to do the same things, in the same way for many years and often it is only through chance or crisis that we are willing change our ways.
A Starbucks manager recently shared with me that as part of their (usually) excellent customer service they rely of the fact that people have a habitual way of being. Their customers usually come in at the same time of day and ask for the same drink and that is how their staff get to know the customers names and preferred drink in a  very short time. Hence the friendly warm familiar greeting when you enter a Starbucks... that is… if you are a regular at a specific store.
Societies can have a certain a belief system or paradigm.  Prior to Roger Bannister in 1954, no one had ever run a 4 minute mile and the prevailing belief in society was that it was not humanly possible.  But on that particular day the paradigm was shifted...
(ref: http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/may/6/newsid_2511000/2511575).
A paradigm shift comes when science or an individual discovers a better, more efficient or different way to get the same or better result.
A classic story about a paradigm shift is the 4 minute mile. Because one man changed society’s perception of what was possible it opened the way for so many other people to also beat the 4 minute mile barrier.
Another example of a paradigm shift is when the digital watches were invented. For hundreds of years watches were made with small metal moving pieces. The way people read or told the time was to look at the watch face, which had numbers or markings from 1 through to 12, and then there were 5 small markings between each number indicating the minutes, and the small hand (or the short pointy thing) that moved around the clock face, pointed to the hour and the big hand (the long pointy usually metal thing) pointed to the minutes past that hour. This way we could tell when it was 15, 30 etc... minutes past the hour, or 12 minutes to the next hour etc.

And then one day someone invented an electronic digital clock and the way humanity read time shifted... But it didn’t eliminate the watches it just gave us more choices.

There are other paradigms shifts that will eliminate old ways of doing things...
When the horseless carriage was invented, it paved the way for cars and other motor travel that have eliminated using horses as transport, for most of the world.
These paradigm shifts are beneficial all for our ease of life, growth and evolution.

What about personal paradigm shifts?
What does it take for us to change our ways to invite growth and enjoy better circumstance in our lives?
With a Vision Board You have a blank canvas to paint the pictures you desire
Personal change is often the most difficult. In order to change one must first be able to perceive a better outcome or result. And that is why I like to start with a vision board. A visual representation of your desired result.

If we can first see in our minds eye and then clearly on a Vision Board, what we want, then we can imagine and discover or comprehend a different way to get us what we want.
There’s and old saying…
“if you always do what you have always done, then you will always get what you have always got.”
It may seem blatantly obvious, when you put it that way, but change can be hard for many people.
There is a story about a farmer who was using Oxen to pull his plough through his field to till the soil and the one day someone brought him a tractor.  The farmer could not understand the benefit of the tractor…

WHY?
You might ask.  Because the farmer had hooked the oxen up to the tractor and it was really heavy to pull. He didn’t know that he was meant to put the plough behind the tractor and drive the tractor. The tractor was to replace the oxen... not the plough.
Where in your life are you being challenged to replace an old way of doing things, an old way of thinking an old belief system that no longer serves you.

Where are you being invited to step up, to become more than who you are now in order to achieve your dreams and the success you dream of?
In order to achieve your hearts desires what paradigms need to be shifted to give you a new and better, more efficient way to live your best life today?
With guidance, support and patience you can shift gears, change paradigms and live a full and happy, prosperous life.

Motivation and YOU.

Motivation and YOU.
What motivates you? What gets you up and out of bed and ready to “seize the day?”
There are two basic motivation strategies:
2 motivation strategies either the Carrot or the Stick
  1. Moving towards a goal - towards pleasure- the carrot
  2. Moving away from a negative - away from pain - the stick
Neither one is right or wrong.  It is just the way people are programmed. If it is a learned behavior or a natural preference, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you know what -
“Gets you going!”
Watch out for those people who say “Oh No”… you must be positive! Not necessarily so.
Yes it helps to have a positive expectation and as far as the law of attraction goes,
Like attracts like and what you focus on expands.
So watch out if you are running away from the negative please look at and focus on the pleasure that you are actually
running towards.
Too many people are backing into their future. They are walking away from troubles, problems and pain
and not turning around to see a bright and happy future.
If you are aware of your motivation strategy and it is a “move away from”then you can turn around … face the future
and move towards the pleasure, the vision and it will be easier to take your focus off the negative and turn
your back and move away from the negative and the pain.
Your Vision Board is the visual representation of a bright, positive and happy future. When you gaze at it,
when you meditate with it, when you focus on it… check in with yourself and ask am I happily moving towards this goal and dream or am I running away from a current pain.
When you do this you will feel your inner or core energy and your core motivator, you true motivation strategy.
It’s not good or bad right or wrong, it just IS… And what’s great is, now you have an awareness of how you work!
Socrates said “Know Thyself”
Whichever strategy you use to get yourself going, once you understand yourself -
You will be able to work with your Vision Board even more effectively.

Vision Board Success Tip - Creating Space.

Here is a Vision Board Personal Growth Quick Tip from: 101 Vision Board Tips for Personal Growth   (a new service I offer to my valued subscribers)

Creating Space.
Overwhelm, too many spinning plates,
so much to do… so little time,
so many projects, emails, phone calls...
Does any of this sound familiar?
Dr. Deepak Chopra said so many people just rush their lives away
and a futurist friend of mine (someone who studies society
and forecasts emerging trends) said “busy” is the new status symbol.
So many “time saving devices” have just enabled us to do more
and jam more activity into our already busy day.
A simple and yet really effective way to give yourself more space,
allow a feeling of freedom and to give yourself a “breather” …
is to CREATE space on your Vision board.
It may sound too simple, but simple works and the subconscious mind
the driver of your unconscious beliefs and habitual behaviors
will perceive the extra space on your board and you will be amazed
how the space will then start to appear in your life.
If you cant remove any “too busy” pictures from your Vision board,
try trimming the edges of the pictures you have and give yourself
the space that way.
Let me know how it goes....
Celebrating Your Success!

YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE?

YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE?

Which one would you spend to:

  • have your dreams come true,
  • become a huge  / overnight success,
  • have, be or do whatever you desire?

The #1 reason people don’t have what they want is because they don’t have…

a )enough time to invest

b) enough money to invest

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT?

Most people you meet are willing to invest maybe one … but not both.

The most successful people in the world invest BOTH…

TIME AND MONEY!

They study, learn, grow and invest in their personal development and education

to become who they want to be and the best they can be,

… armed with knowledge and practical application and

a ”never give up” determination and passion to achieve exceptional results.

If you have limited time, then you can invest your money to get the best training programs and personal coaches to fast track your success.

If you have limited money, then you can invest in a home study training program and spend the time going through the proven exercises that are provided for you.

Either way if YOU choose a path and stick to it - you will succeed beyond your expectations.

“Your thoughts determine what you want, your actions determine what you get.”

Take action today … invest your money and hire yourself a qualified personal coach to fast track your changes and success, or purchase a self study program and invest your time …  to become who you want to be and achieve your dreams!

Either way you will get what you want - all it takes is your commitment and your focused, continued actions.

“If you don’t believe in you - Who will?”

Vision Boards, energy and getting what you want

Energy levels rise and fall…

Do you find… one day you are on top of the world feeling blissful and

then you hear some bad news and suddenly feel down in the dumps?

It’s normal. We are emotional beings with all ranges of emotions.

We have compassion for others and we feel happy or sad when

various life’s events occur.

How dull life would be with out these variations. Life is about contrast.

There is an old saying…

“ How would you know Happiness if you never felt sadness?”

I am sure you have heard many of these.

The trick is to allow the emotional swings without dwelling on the negative.

It is the worry, fear, guilt and remorse that grab us and take us spiraling

down into the abyss.

Many people think that in order to achieve their goals and dreams they have to

remain upbeat, happy, positive and impervious to emotions.

But I am here to tell you that when you practice your Mind Powers

either using a 30 Day Accelerator or some other form of journal discipline

and work with your Vision Boards consistently and regularly even

with the mood swings and reactions to life’s good and bad news…

YOU CAN STILL GET WHAT YOU WANT!

It is about discipline and developing habits:

What you do consistently, daily and regularly is what

will bring you your reality.

Yes, things that you want, will speed up when you stay in an anabolic

(positively focused) frame of mind.

But you would have to be a robot to not feel a little sadness when

you hear about sad events and people’s misfortunes and suffering.

To help yours and there energy levels

when bad things happen asking questions like:

“What is the benefit"

“What is the opportunity"

"If possible, is there anything positive about this event"

"What good could come from this situation"

There are always at least 2 sides to every situation

and we always have choices to grow toward our true and highest good.

I know that even though energy levels drop,

if you stay focused on what you want doing your daily practices,

imagining and celebrating the end result,

your reality will work out, if not better than you expect

certainly as good as you expect.

Create Your Vision Board - they work!

I have just co-authored a book with my friend Towanna Freeman.

come to class and discover how this magic happened!
